The naturalistic floral decoration of this table relates it to the work of George Brookshaw (1751-1823), who described himself as 'Peintre Ebeniste par Extraordinaire' on his bill for a commode supplied to the Prince of Wales in 1783, although Brookshaw’s most usual practice was to paint onto copper panels, rather than paper, as is the case on the top of this table.
