Each with everted lip and waisted body, the conforming pedestal of panelled rectangular form with black marble base
The vases: 50 ½ in. (128.5 cm.) high; 36 ½ in. (92.5 cm.) diameter
The pedestals: 38 ¾ in. (98.5 cm.) high; 26 ¼ in. (65.5 cm.) square

The entwined-snake form handles on the present pair of monumental vases relate them closely to a gilt-bronze-mounted malachite vase in The State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, dated to 1841 with nearly identical serpent supports (Π 148).
