Enicar was founded in 1914 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Ariste Racine who named his manufacture by reversing his last name. The production of the two-crown Sherpa chronographs started in 1964 and soon became very popular for their quality, design and safety features. They were meant to be tool watches and were originally used as such by competitive race drivers. The “waterproof” case was named “Seapearl Supercompressor”.
