2° (466 x 347mm). All engraved with frontispiece, title, 41 plates of mythological figures by G. Zancon, G. A. Zuliani, A. Sandi, L. Porelato and others, one coloured, 38 plates of engraved text only. Manuscript index bound in. (Some occasional light finger-soiling, short tear at bottom margin of plate 36, faint dampstaining in three plates at end). Contemporary quarter calf (some worming to spine, loss at head and foot, extremities rubbed).
FIRST EDITION. SBN calls for 40 plates whereas 41 are present here, all apparently in the one series. The manuscript index describes 38 plates, 3 plates at the end having been inserted without the accompanying text after completion of the index. SBN calls for an overall total of 86 plates.
