FIRST EDITION. One of several works by Kepler on the subject of Christian chronology, it provides the text of his correspondence with the German musician and chronologer Seth Calvisius (1556-1615), the Jesuit Johannes Deckers, Markus Gerstenberger, and Herwart von Hohenburg. Prompted by his calculation of the year of Christ's birth as 5 B.C. in De Jesu Christi ... vero anno natalitio (Frankfurt, 1606), the letters not only discuss this issue but the period of Christ's public activity, set by Kepler at two and a quarter years. BL/STC 17th-century German Books K-110.
