MANFREDI, Eustachio (1674-1739). Ephemerides motuum coelestium ex anno MDCCXV in annum MDCCXXV. Bologna: typis Constantini Pisarii, 1715.
2 volumes, 4° (261 x 190mm). First title in red and black, woodcut device to titles, 15 folding engraved plates, numerous woodcut diagrams, large head- and tailpieces. (Some spotting, K3 in vol. 1 torn, small wormtrack to gutter through a few leaves in vol. 1, repair to plate 14.) Contemporary vellum, manuscript titles to spine (lightly soiled). Provenance: some contemporary annotation and underlining.
FIRST EDITION. ‘Intended, unlike most of its predecessors, not for astrological use but for practical astronomy, the ephemerides were of unusual extent and practicality’ (DSB IX, p.77). Houzeau and Lancaster 15461; Riccardi I(ii) 80.5.
