Small 4° (205 x 152mm). Text of A3 within large woodcut border, woodcut diagrams, one full-page, large woodcut initials. (Very light browning, a few minor spots.) Modern vellum. Provenance: bookseller's label (on pastedown).

SCARCE FIRST EDITION. The work has not sold at auction for over 80 years. RBH lists a copy sold at Sotheby’s in 1934 and there are no records on ABPC for this edition. Duveen describes this work as a great rarity. Pantheus was an Italian priest and alchemist. Parts of this work were incorporated into Ars et theorie transmutationis metallicae cum voarchadumia, published in 1550. Duveen, p.449; Wellcome I, 4722.
