12° (122 x 80mm). Greek text. Tiny woodcut diagrams in margins, several woodcut initials, device on final verso. (Title waterstained, soiled and with marginal tear, waterstain continuing through first quire, final verso soiled.) Contemporary vellum, manuscript title on spine (crinkled, ties and free endpapers lacking).

RARE EDITION BY THE LAST OF THE GREEK WRITERS ON ARITHMETIC. Smith notes that this work ‘covers the medieval Quadrivium – arithmetic, music, geometry, and astronomy – and is the only late Greek work on arithmetic that attracted attention in the Renaissance period.’ In his list of editions, this edition is said to be in Greek and Latin, but in fact only the title is in both languages. It follows the earlier editions of Venice, 1532, and Paris, 1538, in Greek alone. Adams P-2203; Smith, Rara arithmetica p.168.
