4° (213 x 150mm). Etched frontispiece and a large folding plate. (Small wormhole in frontispiece causing slight loss of image and again in last 3 leaves, a few light spots.) Contemporary cartone alla rustica, manuscript title on front cover (slightly rubbed). Provenance: removed bookplate from pastedown.
FIRST ITALIAN EDITION, the Latin edition of Terzago and Scarabelli's catalogue of the Wunderkammer of Manfredo Settala, a rich Milanese prelate, appeared two years earlier. It contained an extraordinary variety of objects, natural as well as artificial, inter alia cylindrical mirrors, unicorn horns, Chinese printed books on silk, mummies, birds of paradise, optical lenses, musical instruments, tropical fish and Chinese porcelain.
