Pecten maximus up to 7-inches long with many smaller specimens, possibly juvenile, preserved alongside, from the Miocene (23-5 million years ago), supported on blue stand.

Lot Essay

Preserved in their final pose, these fossil Pectens, are the ancestors of today's modern (edible) scallop. Their surrounding host rock has been carved away to reveal their detail.
