With blacked chopperlump barrels signed in full on the rib, actions signed on the underside and with chiselled fences, removable striker-discs, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE', signed locks, best quality large scroll engraving throughout, retaining faded traces of original case-hardened and blued finish throughout, figured 14 ½ in. stocks including ¾ in. leather-covered recoil-pad, the butts inlaid with the initials 'R.B.' in gold, in original maker's oak and leather double case fitted for the 28 in. barrels and the pair of 29 in. barrels, the lid with brass escutcheon engraved with the initials 'R.B.', and with canvas and leather outer
28 in. (71 cm.) nitro barrels, 2 ¾ in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. & modified choke.
29 in. (73.7 cm.) nitro barrel for the No.1 gun, 2 ¾ in. chambers, bored approx. ½ & full.
25 in. (63.5 cm.) nitro barrels, 2 ¾ in. chambers, bored approx. cyl. in each.
6 lbs. 12 oz. (with 28 in. barrels fitted).
Provenance
The makers have kindly confirmed that these guns were completed in December 1965 for Robert de Balkany with 28 in. barrels, a second set of 29 in. barrels for the No.1 gun, and large scroll engraving by Casbard. In August 1968 each gun was fitted with an additional set of 25 in. barrels.
