Grand Cru, Côte de Nuits
In original wooden cases
2002***** Outstanding for Red, **** Very Good for white.
A wonderful vintage of pure rich stylish reds and soft rounded whites.
Early start of the flowering was followed by a variable summer weather with a bit of everything, from cold via warm to hot and back again. The long period of dry weather was starting to be a problem when finally early September rain arrived end of August, replenishing the vines. When the wind turned north the grapes were dried and harvest could begin on 16 September under clear blue skies.
2002 is deservedly a popular vintage among Burgundy aficionados. What is there not to love about the pure fine forest strawberry aromas in the best red wines and fresh mineral tones of the great whites. To enjoy or keep for another ten years or more.
Tasting note: Garnet color, purple brown reflections. Discreet nose of cold tobacco, raisins, fig, wet ash. Good balance in mouth, direct and open, fragrant. BPF.
