A Japanese parquetry, gilt bronze and silver mounted circular kodansu
with ring carrying handles, decorated with panels of birds and insects among flowering branches, the reverse with a dragonfly above floral sprays, all above geometric bands to the feet, the interior fitted with seven drawers decorated with figures, fans, a mirror, insects, karashishi, birds and prunus -- 10¾in. (27.4cm) high, one panel to the interior signed, the lock stamped W. Thornhill and Co, 144 New Bond Street, London W, original key, (damages).
