A RARE JADE 'DRAGON' DISC, BI
WESTERN HAN DYNASTY (206 BC-8 AD)
The disc is finely carved to the centre in openwork with a dragon, highlighted by fine incisions along its body and its tail. The surface is decorated on both sides in relief with comma spirals within inner and outer raised borders. The well polished stone is of a yellowish-beige tone with areas of minor russet inclusions and calcification.
3 1/2 in. (8.5 cm.) diam.
