AN INSCRIBED BRONZE STANDING FIGURE OF BUDDHA
NORTHERN WEI DYNASTY, DATED HUANGXING FIRST YEAR, CORRESPONDING TO AD 467 AND OF THE PERIOD
The standing figure of Buddha is depicted standing on a lotus base with his right hand raised in abhaya mudra, the left hand holding
the edge of his sleeve, backed by a petal-shaped aureole decorated with borders of flames. The bracket stand is incised with a partially legible inscription reading ‘Made on the eighteenth day eighth month first year of Huangxing (AD 467) by the follower Yao Jing’.
