A FINE AND RARE SMALL LONGQUAN CELADON TRIPOD CENSER
SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY (1127-1279)
The censer has deep rounded sides rising to a straight, lipped rim, and stands on three slender cylindrical legs. The mouth rim is applied with two upright lug handles. It is covered overall in a pale celadon glaze thinning to white to the extremities and stopping around a circle on the base, exposing the body material.

This censer is a fine example of early Southern Song Longquan ware. Compare a very similar example in the Quzhou Museum but with thicker and shorter legs, illustrated in The Research of Porcelain of Longquan Kiln, Beijing, 2013, p. 181, pl. 11 (fig. 1).
