Lot Essay

A vase of this form and colour with a Qianlong mark, but of slightly larger size (15.1 cm.) is in the Palace Museum Beijing, and is illustrated by Zhang Rong (ed.), Luster of Autumn Water, Glass of the Qing Imperial Workshop, Forbidden City Publishing House, 2005, no. 23.

Other vases of this pleasing form and date, but in different colours including turquoise-green, yellow, red, and leaf-green in the Andrew K.F. Lee Collection, are illustrated in Elegance and Radiance, The Art Museum, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 2000, nos. 17-21, where a blue Yongzheng marked vase is illustrated as no. 16.
