Lot Essay

The actor's mask was probably also a round appliqué decorating a glass vessel. For another example of stamped appliqués decorating the handle of a vessel also once in the Sangiorgi collection, cf. D.B. Harden, Glass of the Caesars, 1987, p. 118, no. 50.
