Lot Essay

On the left, facing to the right, a striding figure of the god Amun, in characteristic short kilt with corselet, holding an Ankh in one hand and a was-sceptre in the other. The remains of text above his head reading '...all prosperity'. Facing him is a now headless figure, almost certainly a female, wearing a close fitting gown, offering a wedjat-eye. The text below reading "offering the wedjat-eye to Amun-Ra, that he might grant life'. The figure must be one of the Theban Divine Adoritrices. The features of Amun and the fact that a divine Adoritice is performing a ritual normally reserved for a Pharaoh, suggests the above relief is 25th Dynasty in date.
