The present cabinet is unusual for its diminutive size. Typically, cabinets of this type are known for their massive size and are constructed with a flush frame. However, variations on this type are known. Compare, for example, the huanghuali compound cabinet and hat chest of similar construction, although of more elongated form, illustrated by G.
