Lot Essay

This stele is sculpted as a false gable used to decorate a Buddhist stupa. It was placed at the base of the dome. A hole in the centre of the gable shows where it was attached. It is composed of a trefoil arch, now partly damaged, the shape of which recalls a shrine hall under a vaulted roof.
