A fresh, clean set of a history of the campaigns of these three military commanders, all of whom fought in the War of the Spanish Succession. Illustrated with fine views, maps, and plans of the various scenes of action by Jan Huchtenburgh (1647-1733), a Dutch painter and engraver who had served Prince Eugène de Savoy. Complete with the supplementary third volume published nearly two decades later. Copies vary in the number of plates, with no consensus in the bibliographies. Titles printed in red and black, with engraved vignettes, 99 engraved plates, all but 6 double-page and folding, 9 letterpress tables, 5 of which double-page, engraved vignettes in the text (plate 5 in vol. 1 with 30mm tear but without loss, short tear to plate 48 in vol. 2). Modern red quarter morocco, gilt spines, antique style.
