A pair of Paris (Darte) two-handled urns
of fluted campana form, with alternating vertical matt black and richly gilt grounds reserved with bands of flowers and birds among flowers, above seeded sections gilt with insects, the lower sections with similar ornament above raised oval panels painted to simulate jewels, with loop handles terminating in bearded satyr masks, the rims moulded with fans, on square section pedestal bases, iron-red marks 33.5cm. high, 19th century (covers lacking, one with handle lacking, the other broken and re-glued, some wear and flaking)
