Engraved, one side with "Her Excellency The Lady Carmichael's medal for the best plain sewing Winner Mrs M.F. Jordon 9th Dec. 1916," the other side with a depiction of Mother India (Bharat Mata), inscribed below, Janani janmabhumischa shargwadwapi gariyashi ("Mother and motherland are superior to Heaven") in Sanskrit, Bengali script, enclosed in a case
