The brass mater with throne, suspension shackle above, the rim graduated 0-360° by 1° with larger markings every 5°, with six plates engraved on both sides each bearing stereographic projections except for one marked with hours for prayer, all with inscriptions in naskh, the rete with 30 named star pointers, the reverse of the mater with shadow square and projection for triganometrical calculations, diagram of unequal hours, edge with naskh cartouches with floral flourishes, the plates and the womb of the mater with later tinning, rete, plates, alidade, horse and pin later associated
5 ¼in. (13.4cm.) diam.
