A very similar tile to those of this lot and the following is published by Arthur Millner in his comprehensive study on Damascus tiles, and attributed by him to circa 1570-80 (Arthur Millner, Damascus Tiles, London, 2015, p.265, fig.6.54). The closest tiles with the similar vine ‘wave’ motif which remain in situ are those in the Darwishiyya Mosque in Damascus which was built between 1572 and 1575 (Millner, op.cit., fig.4.31).
