PROPERTY OF A NORDIC GENTLEMAN (LOTS 193-238 INCLUSIVE)Christie’s is honoured to be offering for sale this great collection of works of art and furniture, from the estate of a Nordic Gentleman. Lots 193-238 were acquired in Beijing in the 1950s, when he served as an official at a Nordic Embassy. Following the trend of many Western Diplomats stationed in Beijing at the time, he started to collect Chinese works of art to furnish his family home. The pieces were acquired from local dealers and shops and special attention was paid to beauty and elegance. The works of art on offer here were part of their daily lives and they are a true testament to the collector’s discerning eye and taste.
