The first edition, containing the first published view of San Francisco, which was not to be included in the English translation. An important account of the Russian Embassy to Japan, of the Alaska fur trade and of the Russian settlement in California by one of the scientists on Kruzenshtern's world voyage for the Czar of Russia.
