A fine and uncut copy of the first edition in original boards. Barrow was Second Secretary to the Admiralty and had full access to the primary documents needed to compile this history. Octavo (221 x 142mm). Frontispiece folding map; 3 wood-engraved illustrations in Appendix II; advertisement leaves at end dated 1 October 1818 (mild offsetting to map). Original boards, printed paper spine label (joints and corners just showing, light wear to spine panel ends). Provenance: Warren Heckrotte (his sale, PBA Galleries, 29 October 2015).
