The first edition of the rare botanical report from Beechey's voyage on the Blossom, one of only 125 copies printed, according to Stafleu. Includes information on 115 species in the Avacha Bay area of Kamchatka and 235 species found in the Alaska costal area from 67°N to 71°N. Hooker was an outstanding botanist, later director of Kew Gardens. One of the plates (Phallus Damonum Rumph.) was drawn by Beechey himself. This is a handsome and large copy; RBH records no others in contemporary bindings at auction since 1964.
