BROWN, John (1797-1861). A Sequel to the North-West Passage, and the Plans for the Search for Sir John Franklin. London: Stanford, 1860.
A fine copy of the rare separately published first edition. It particularly covers “Lady Franklin’s Final Expedition,” i.e. the voyage of the Fox under McClintock which found evidence of Franklin's fate. It was included with the second edition of Brown’s work of 1858 (see preceding lot) but this separate publication is very rare and unrecorded in Arctic Bib. Cf. Arctic Bib. 2303.
Octavo (208 x 133mm). Half-title. Frontispiece map; folding plate of facsimile manuscript (offsetting from map to title). Original blue cloth gilt. Provenance: Maggs Bros. Ltd.
