A presentation copy of the rare first edition, illustrated with 12 mounted photographs, inscribed on the front free endpaper "with AY's kind regards" (recipient illegible). Allen Young served on the Fox under Francis McClintock, traveling to Beechey Island where Franklin relics were found. Over a decade later, Young commanded the Pandora on a second search mission. Despite heavy ice, the voyage was also able to provide support to the Nares expedition, 1875-76. Arctic Bib. 19758 (citing only 10 plates).
