For all lots, a VAT charge of 5% of the buyer’s premium will be payable unless the lot is correctly exported out of the UAE within 90 days of the date of this auction. For lots marked with the ‘star’ * symbol in the catalogue, an import duty of 5% of the hammer price will be payable if the lot is collected or shipped within the GCC and an additional VAT of 5% will be charged on the duty-inclusive hammer price if the lot is released into free circulation in the UAE. First Rolex timepiece to display a separate day and date feature, the Day-Date was initiated in 1956 and became one of the most iconic model of the manufacture. Throughout its production, the Day-Date was crafted in multiple variances with examples adorned with precious stones, lacquered or hard-stone dials.
Property of an important European collector, the present wristwatch impresses through the immaculate condition of its delicate dial. Lapis-lazuli dials are known for their fragile nature and are increasingly rare to come across in untouched condition. Adding further to the appeal and rarity of the timepiece, the dial is set with an attractive diamond-setting, with baguette and brilliant-cut diamonds, set in yellow gold chatons.
