It is the buyer's responsibility to ascertain and pay all taxes due. Please note that on 1st of January 2018, the UAE introduced a VAT regime. For all lots, a VAT charge of 5% of the buyer’s premium will be payable unless the lot is correctly exported out of the UAE within 90 days of the date of this auction. For lots marked with the ‘star’ * symbol in the catalogue, an import duty of 5% of the hammer price will be payable if the lot is collected or shipped within the GCC and an additional VAT of 5% will be charged on the duty-inclusive hammer price if the lot is released into free circulation in the UAE. Please see the Conditions of Sale in the sale catalogue for full details. If you are shipping outside of the UAE, you will need to indicate your shipping requirements and residency status to us prior to bidding to secure a VAT refund.

Lot Essay

Launched in the 1970s, the reference 6265 is the sister reference of the 6263. Inheriting attributes of reference 6240, the chronograph bears the “Oyster” designation on the upper-half of its dial and is built with screw-down pushers, a screw back and screw-down crown. Made in steel, 14 and 18 karat gold, it is estimated that over a 20 year period, only 24,000 reference 6263 and 6265 were produced in stainless steel.

Housing the Valjoux 727 movement and a dial with cherry red “Daytona” signature, the chronograph was made with a slightly wider case, giving the wristwatch a more athletic feel than earlier references. Adding to its appeal, the timepiece is in very good overall condition and is offered with a very collectible additional black red Daytona "sigma" dial. Furthermore, the owner specially requested for the timepiece to be fitted with an attractive black bezel, commonly seen on the reference 6263.
