MEZCALA SERPENTINE FIGURE, TYPE M22

The kneeling figure with squared feet, arms crossed high above the chest, the jaw projecting sharply forward, lips pursed and with strongly demarcated brow ridge.
Carlo Gay interprets this eccentric position of the arms as that of a shaman or a priest.

Le personnage est représenté à genoux avec des pieds aux formes carrées et les genoux repliés vers la poitrine, la mâchoire projetée en avant, les lèvres pincées et des arcades sourcilières nettement dessinées.
Carlo Gay suggère que la position hiératique des bras peut être celle d’un chaman ou d’un prêtre.
