The Bonsack Collection Elsa Bonsack, wife of Godfrey Bonsack, the well known Mayfair interior decorator, was a woman of great taste and refinement. She discovered the designs of Cristobal Balenciaga in the 1950s and was a devoted client until the close of his house in 1968. As many of his clients, she then patronised Hubert de Givenchy, who carried on in the Master's grand tradition of superlative cutting and in the use of dynamic colours and fabrics. Mrs Bonsack died in August 1995. It was her wish that the collection should be sold to benefit the Institute of Cancer Research.
