Louisa Faulkner Phillips was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Phillips. On 2 January 1801, she married Edmund Henry Lushington, Esq. (1766-1839), son of Reverend James Stephen Lushington and Mary Law, and a practicing Barrister-at-Law and Bencher of the Inner Temple. He was appointed a Puisne Judge in Ceylon, in 1806, and was elevated to Chief Justice of Ceylon in 1807. On their return to England, he subsequently held the office of Chief Commissioner of the Colonial Board of Audit, and Master of the Crown Office, respectively.
