Lot Essay

An instant classic of contemporary Rolex production, reference 116610LV was launched in 2010 and immediately captured the attention of collectors thanks to its green dial and bezel combination, the reason behind its nickname “The Hulk”. Compare to the previous Submariner with green bezel, 16610LV the modification of two details imparts a completely new look to the present timepiece. Rolex decided to give to bezel and dial a deep bottle green color. Indeed, it seems incredible that a color change modified the overall feel of the timepiece in such a tremendous way, and the final result is striking and innovative.

The present example, offered in absolutely mint condition, still retaining the protective stickers to the band and strap, is furthermore graced by the Khanjar, the national emblem of Oman, engraved on its case back. Sultan Qaboos of Oman is considered the most important living watch collector, and bespoken timepieces bearing his insignia are very rare and highly collectible items.
