A FAMILLE NOIRE 'FIVE DRAGON' DISH
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The dish is decorated to the centre with a famille noire panel enclosing a five-clawed dragon chasing the flaming pearl amongst flame and cloud scrolls, surrounded by two striding dragons chasing the flaming pearl on a green ground. The exterior is decorated with two further striding dragons, all reserved on a bright yellow ground. The base has an apocryphal Hongzhi mark.
7 in. (17.7 cm.) diam.
