Tasting note: October 2017 at the Domaine from half bottle. Much more confiture style fruit on the first nose, sun ripened berries. Cassis at first then strawberries. Showing more maturity on the nose then the 1999 at this stage. Richer pure nose reminding me of the 2000. Crème de Cerise. You can smell the sun in this wine.
Fine softly structured start of taste, all strawberries then the fine ripe tannins appear. On the finish an explosion of fruit which slowly fades away showing the good structure and balance.
This 1998 has a much better balance and no hard tannins compared to many other Burgundies from this vintage. It’s clear that a severe selection in the vineyard made this great 1998 possible. E.V.
