Lot Essay

The Book of Dreams is a collection of Sanskrit verses, the last part of which usually mentions what is depicted in the associated painting, in this case, a boar. A folio from the same Book of Dreams in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, depicting Chandra, the Moon God (https://collections.lacma.org/node/248100). That is attributed to Udaipur circa 1700-1725. Another sold at Christie’s, South Kensington, 11 October 2013, lot 507.
