Lot Essay

This model of jardinière is recorded to have been made by the bronzier fondeur Maision Marnyhac. Another example, identical but in red enamel, signed by Marnyhac sold Christie’s, Paris, 2 July 2008, lot 111. Also compare a jardinière on tripod stand with two dragon handles by Ferdinand Barbedienne in the Phoenix Art Museum (1982.214).
