BY THE IMPERIAL PORCELAIN FACTORY, ST PETERSBURG, PERIOD OF CATHERINE THE GREAT (1762-1796)
The cylindrical cup decorated en grisaille with a mythological vignette flanked by two cameo heads, within a ciselé gilt border with gilt foliate scrolls on blue ground, all within two floral bands, with a scroll handle; the saucer similarly decorated, centring the floral and gilt cypher for Catherine II, both marked under bases with blue underglaze factory marks, and incised with Cyrillic letter ‘D’
