A CARVED ZITAN ‘BATS AND CLOUDS’ ALBUM BOX AND COVER
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The box is intricately carved with a dense pattern of bats in flight amidst numerous clouds with a rectangular panel surrounded by key frets in the centre of the cover. Two brass hinges in the shape of bats are applied to a long side of the box, with a bat-shaped lockplate on the opposite side, all supported on four short tab feet.
