A PAIR OF LARGE GREEN-ENAMELLED AND UNDERGLAZE-BLUE ‘DRAGON’ DISHES
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARKS IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN DOUBLE CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
Each dish is decorated with green enamel applied to the white areas which had been reserved against the underglaze-blue ground, well painted in the interior with two five-clawed dragons leaping amidst scrolling clouds in pursuit of flaming pearls, the design repeated in the cavetto and on the exterior above a continuous band of stylised petal lappets.
