Driven by business development opportunities in Taiwan, the collector moved to Taiwan in 1994. As he undertook the task of developing art logistics structures and training art handlers in China between 1994 and 2009 he became acquainted with the art world and met influential advisors who inspired him to start a collection of both classical and contemporary Chinese art through his Western eyes. Fascinated by the power and beauty of Chinese ink painting, the Swiss collector explored Chinese philosophy and history through his painting collection, which for him represented the spontaneity, spirituality, perfect control and discipline of Chinese painters.
