Lot Essay

Pan Zhenyong was born in a family of painters in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province. He studied with the famous Dai Yiheng (1826-1891), an artist from Qiantang, and focused on painting female figures. During the beginning of the Republic of China, Pan Zhenyong and his brother Pan Zhenjie worked with Gao Yong (1850-1921) to establish the Yuyuan Painting and Calligraphy Charitable Organization in Shanghai.
