circular box of dark tortoiseshell, the cover, sides and base overlaid with vertical stripes of black and red lacquer within reeded gold mounts, the cover centred with an oval micromosaic plaque depicting a parrot seated on a branch within a red and black tesserae outer border, within a chased foliate frame
