TWO JADE ARCHAISTIC BI DISCS WITH CHILONG
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The larger is carved and undercut on top with two chilong crawling around the central aperture, and the underside with tiny bosses. The stone shades from white to creamy pale brown. The smaller is carved in high relief on top with a single chilong with L-shaped horns and hair markings on the legs grasping in its jaws a gnarled, leafy stem of lingzhi, and the underside is carved in flat relief with two chilong, the smaller with a bird's head. The stone shades from pale greyish white to dark brown with areas of opaque alteration.
3 ¾ in. and 2 7/8 in. (9.5 and 7.5 cm.) diam.
