A RED-OVERLAY GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
PROBABLY PALACE WORKSHOPS, BEIJING, 1740-1800
The bottle is carved through the transparent red overlay to the slightly opaque, bubble-suffused ground with a continuous scene of waves crashing against rocks on the narrow sides, with a pavilion on one side, a ruyi head on the reverse, and cranes in flight above.
2 1/8 in. (5.3 cm.) high, jadeite stopper
